1 | WHAT TYPES OF ITEMS DOES STBF BUY?

We purchase high-quality, in-demand styles that are gently worn or brand new, and in clean, great condition. This includes women’s, men’s and kids clothing, outerwear, swimwear, shoes, bags, and accessories.

2 | WHAT BRANDS DO YOU BUY?

STBF buys premiere retail brands as well as independent and vintage brands. Below is a list of just a few of the brands we are on the lookout for. If you’re unsure about some of your items because of brand or style, include them anyway! We don’t mind (in fact, we love!) reviewing all items to determine if they’re a fit for STBF’s online shops. Any items not selected can be included in our monthly charity donations or returned to you.

3 | I DON’T SEE SOME OF MY BRANDS ON THE LIST. SHOULD I STILL INCLUDE THEM IN MY BAGS?

YES! Our Brands list is just a glimpse at some of the high quality, popular brands we are looking for. We don’t mind (in fact, we love!) reviewing all items to determine if they’re a fit for STBF’s online shops.

We do buy some of the more basic brands that aren’t listed such as Loft, Banana Republic, Gap, etc., as long as they are in excellent condition and an in-demand style. Please note that these brands tend to have a lower resale value, therefore payout is lower compared to the higher-end brands.

Any items not selected can be in included in our monthly charity donations or returned to you.

4 | I HAVE SOME GOOD STUFF TO SELL, BUT I ALSO HAVE A TON OF OLDER STUFF I JUST WANT TO DONATE. CAN YOU TAKE IT?

YES! Our goal is to make your life easier when it comes to selling and donating your pre-loved clothing! We are happy to pick-up all your bags, select items that are a fit for the STBF shops (and make you a cash offer), and donate the rest.

5 | DO YOU BUY HOUSEWARES, DECOR, FURNITURE OR TOYS?

We are happy to consider purchasing your smaller, easily shippable modern and ecclectic decor. This would include items such as pillow covers, curtains, tapestries, non-breakable artwork, jewelry organizers, etc.

6 | HOW MUCH DOES STBF PAY PER ITEM?

We pay you cash for your items up front! This is not like consignment where you have to wait and see if your items sell before you are paid.

We aim to pay 10-20% of the expected profit. This varies based on brand, style, color, size, condition, current demand, and the sale price of comparable items in the secondhand market. Payment is offered via Venmo or Paypal.

7 | WHERE DO YOU SELL THE ITEMS YOU BUY?

Most items are sold through online marketplaces such as Poshmark and Ebay. Luxury/rare items may be sold on consignment sites like The RealReal. Items that remain unsold after a period of time may be sold to local consignment shops.

8 | WHAT IS THE BEHIND THE SCENES PROCESS?

Items are researched for product name, details and stock photos. We then shoot/edit high-quality photos, take item measurements, and fill out listing descriptions on the various sites. Once listed, we field offers, negotiations and questions from potential buyers, and adjust pricing over time as needed. When an item sells, we lovingly package it up, process it for shipping, and deliver it to the post office.

9 | WHAT COSTS DO YOU INCUR AS AN ONLINE SELLER?

In addition to the time spent researching, photographing, listing and shipping items, we pay fees to the online platforms that can range from approx. 15-45% of the selling price.

10 | WHAT HAPPENS TO ITEMS THAT DON’T SELL?

We donate unsold items to local charities. Items not accepted or needed by the charities will be donated to thrift stores.

11 | I WANT TO MAKE THE MOST MONEY POSSIBLE FOR MY ITEMS. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

You should sell your items directly through an online platform like eBay, Poshmark, or The RealReal. Most people don’t have the time, setup or desire to go through the re-selling process (see #7 above), but If you are interested in selling online, I’d be more than happy to answer questions to help get you started!

2 | HOW DO I FIND THE STBF SHOPS ON THESE MARKETPLACES?

3 | IS THE INVENTORY THE SAME IN ALL OF YOUR ONLINE SHOPS?

For the most part, yes. Sometimes our ebay shop will have a few additional items that are specific to niche markets on that platform.

4 | I ONLY WANT TO SHOP ON ONE MARKETPLACE, WHICH ONE DO YOU RECOMMEND?

Poshmark is the most user-friendly! There is a flat shipping rate of $7.45 which is great if you are buying multiple items from the same shop.

5 | CAN I BUY DIRECTLY FROM STBF INSTEAD OF THROUGH AN ONLINE MARKETPLACE?

Absolutely! Simply browse the inventory in one of our online shops, email me the item(s) you’d like to purchase. Items can be shipped, or for locals, I can offer porch pick-up. Payment can be made via Venmo or Paypal.
