Last weekend my friend Kristin texted me a picture of a bunch of clothes and shoes, and followed it with a text that read:
"Had to share! It's a poppin' tags kinda Saturday. Goodwill Painesville and Salvation Army Mentor. $60 bucks total, 15 items, including a cool faux leather jacket, brand new Target shoes, and brands including Calvin Klein, Gap, Loft, NY & Co, and Chicos! My dark winter wardrobe is getting donated and now I have lots of bright colors and short sleeves!"
My mouth started watering with excitement!! I zoomed in on her picture so fast and demanded she send me full version pics of the grey sweatshirt, white sweater and leather jacket. Look at these!!!
No words!! I simply responded to her with a million praise the lord /raise the roof / double high five emoticons.
So of course, since I've never been to Goodwill Painesville, I just haaaad to make a special stop out there this week. And woah, it was pretty amazing. There were so. many. clothes. Here's a quick 15 second video to give you an idea... I would've taken more but Instagram only gives ya 15 seconds.
It's serious work digging through those racks of clothes. My left shoulder cramped up a number of times from all the swiping and pulling and I was literally out of breath by the end of each rack. What a workout! I was able to pull about 20+ things to try on which is a pretty good load!
I always try a ton of stuff on and slowly widdle my way down by asking myself some very poignant questions:
1 | Would I actually wear this in lieu of yoga pants and a t-shirt?
2 | Is this something that can be worn every. single. day. when I decide that I hate the rest of my wardrobe?
3 | Is this versatile enough to be worn running errands, carting the kids around, going out to dinner?
4 | Can I comfortably nap in this?
From 20+ pieces I narrowed it down to these three:
|Merona cotton dress (with pockets!!) - $7|
|BRAND NEW w/ Tags Mossimo white tank - $5|
|Forever 21 cinched waist blouse - $4|
On to housewares!!
My friend Lisa asked me to style her two white Ikea Hemnes cabinets in her bedroom. Umm, yes please!! This makes her my very first "client"! Her bedroom vibe is very Lilly Pulitzer with kelly green side tables, a bright pink floral duvet, black and white striped pillows, and gold lamps. I thought I had bought everything I needed for her... but then as I strolled the housewares section I found more good stuff!
|Glass Jar with Wrapped Rope - $4|
|Ikea Gold Framed Mirror - $2|
|Gold Lantern - $1.50|
|Textured White Vase - $3|
Thankfully I'm heading over to Lisa's tomorrow to style those shelves, otherwise I would never stop shopping! I'll definitely take lots of pictures to share.
And last but not least, my totally random purchase: a 3-hole punch! I've been needing one of these so that I can file the kid's artwork (the few pieces I actually keep) into a binder. These are $20-$25 brand new and I found this one for $3.99!!
Rumor has it that both the North Olmsted and Jackson Township Goodwill's are ahhhhmazing, so those two are on my list next! What's your favorite Goodwill store and why?? Share in the comments so I can add them to my list!
