Twinsie Tuesday

Meet Doug(y): my cousin-in-law's husband. When NBC decides to do a season of Celebrity Doppelganger Apprentice, here's their Bill Rancic.

Dougy, You're Hired!

Washi Tape

I bought my first ever rolls of washi tape recently. I think I only spent 2 1/2 hours trying to decide what colors and patterns to choose. It's impressive I actually placed the order. Usually I get decision lock-up and abandon my online orders. But hey, it's 2013 and for me that means less talking more doing. Or in this case, more buying.

I plan to use them for a big calendar project that is currently in the state of procrastination (errr, too much talking on this one...) So in the meantime, to feel productive, I used some of it to make mini bunting for a little chalkboard easel. There we go... doing!

Twinsie Tuesday

I have a thing for look-alikes. I dabble in celebrity doppelganger comparisons, but I tend to do a lot of "You look like my brother's friend's sister's husband" or "You look like the cashier who works the customer service desk at Target on Mayfield Road."

I'd hate to not share this amazing talent with the world, so I present to you Twinsie Tuesdays. I can't guarantee that all these random people will allow me to take their pictures, so for the first-ever Twinsie Tuesday post I am featuring two people who have no choice, my second born child and his cartoon twin, Linus.

Somethings: Fabrics, Books, Xmas, and...Cheese

This is a continuation from my previous post about the Somethings I found at Goodwill during my 4 hours of shopping bliss, or as I told D, a 4-hour equivalent to his yearly guy fest.

Ok, so we covered the clothing last week. Now for housewares, books and that cheese I mentioned...

Coral, pink, and green Chevron blanket. Oh I so badly wished this matched colors
in our house. This may be headed to The Sampler if anyone's interested.

Vintage floral sheets for craft projects like this ribbon chandelier
or this vintage sheet bunting.

another vintage sheet

and another one
A lace curtain that will be used for things like this pic frame idea.

The book section at Goodwill aint too shabby. I like to dig for books with colorful spines to use in decorating.

I also like kids books with fun illustrations that could be cut out and used as artwork.

This dog looks like the dog we used to have, Sam-boy:

I should expand my "celebrity look-alike" talents to pets!

Christmas stuff was on super clearance! Hopefully I still like this stuff 348 days from now. (If you're doing the math in your head  to see if I am even close to the # of days util Christmas, just go here and see for yourself.)

Bag-o-vintage-ornaments.

Vintage bulbs. I like the idea of filling up a jar like this.

And now for the cheese...

More cheese domes!! These are an inexpensive DIY alternative to cloches and dessert pedestals from places like Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. I'll be sassin' these two up for my next DIY Goodwill project.

After all that, I still wanted to do more shopping. I was on a thrifting high and still had about 20 minutes before I had to head home so I quickly stopped at another thrift store down the road.

What a surprise, I got another...

Cheese dome! This one is a mini and has a cute little nob at the top.

And lastly, a fave find from the whole day, this yellow and white chevron afghan for only $2.50!!

Somethings: Chambray, Ruffles, Seersucker, a Bow, and Poms

My husband and a few of his friends pick one day during the holiday break to have an all-day "guy-fest" of sorts. Basically it's like a day for them to pretend they're in college again. He always comes home saying it's one of the most awesome days of the year.

He posed an interesting question to me after this year's guy-fest. He said "what would be your equivalent to a day like this?"

No brainer.

Spending an entire day out thrift shopping!

So, although I didn't spend the entire day, I did spend 4 hours this past Monday at Goodwill of Akron, and every minute of it was pure pure joy. It was my version of guy-fest minus the guys and minus the fest. Just me, my coffee and a shopping cart full of somethings.

First up, the clothes:

Chambray pleated blouse by Miley Cyrus. I'll be movin' my hips like yeah!
Thin and cozy Old Navy v-neck tee in pink heather.
Am. Eagle blue-white striped ruffled button-down blouse. Perfect under a cardi.

Thought this might look cute with a button-down underneath. Like this.

Fitted seersucker blazer from Limited. Holy great find!! And then....

...I found the matching pants in a completely different section!!!
Red striped ruffle blouse from Charlotte Rousse.

Vintage crocheted shawl with poms. This kinda made me hyperventilate with
excitement.  I don't know that I'll ever wear it but It makes me happy just looking
at it.
For the love of poms!
H & M Blouse in a pink/ivory.
This top was from a previous Goodwill trip but I had to share because it's
currently the most worn item in my closet. The tag says twenty-one which I
assume is Forever 21?
This bow detail is what I like best.
I wore this the other day and C said to me, "I don't like pink-a-dots."
Well it's a good thing I was wearing polka dots.

H & M polka dot hoodie. Or C would say black-a-dot hoodie.

And of course I always pick a few things up for the big guys.

Bright orange polo sweatshirt. I'm thinkin' beach, Florida, white pants. cute!

Stockin' up now in preparation for Spring.

Season's over but C loves the Browns just as much as his dad (and the rest of
Cleveland) event though we're the 6th worst team in the league. (Note: I totally
didn't know that stat. I would have written that we were the  #1 worst team had
I not asked D.) (Additional note: had to google whether to use "worst" or
"worse." Still not sure if I chose the right one...

Aside from this cart of clothes I also picked up some books, housewares, fabric, and Christmas decorations. I am excited to share those soon.
